Call for Indigenous Artists
Local Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, or Inuit) artists are encouraged to prepare proposals for upcoming projects involving making custom artwork available to the USask community.
Shop USask and the USask Indigenous Space & Visual Symbols in the Health Sciences Committee have partnered in a Call for Artists seeking local emerging or established Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, and Inuit) artists who may be interested in submitting proposals on upcoming projects involving making custom artwork available to the University of Saskatchewan community.
The first project is for a commissioned piece to be reproduced on orange t-shirts acknowledging Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30. The deadline to declare interest in this project is April 12, 2024.
The second project is an opportunity to make handcrafted artwork available for sale to the USask community through Shop USask.
Please note: Determination of commission fees is part of the proposal process and left to the recommendation of the selected artist. Proceeds from orange shirts will be directed toward a fund supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and to the artist responsible for the featured artwork.
