The USask Office of the Vice Provost Health has a new name

The name change coincides with the new title for Dr. Steven Jones, PhD, who officially assumed his role as the university’s Associate Provost Health on August 1, 2019.

Provost and Vice President Academic Tony Vannelli, PhD, has approved the renaming of the University of Saskatchewan (USask) Office of the Vice Provost Health (OVPH) to the USask Health Sciences.

This name change coincides with the new title for former Interim Assistant Vice-Provost Health Dr. Steven Jones, PhD, who officially assumed his role as the university’s Associate Provost Health on August 1, 2019.

Dr. Steven Jones' appointment as associate provost health at the University of Saskatchewan began August 1, 2019.

The new name for the former OVPH does more than address the evolution of the leadership role within this administrative unit. It also reflects the Health Sciences as a collective entity rather than the office of an individual leader.

The new USask Health Sciences name now also reflects the facilities and services within the Health Sciences Building as well as the administrative unit that supports life and health science operations at the university.

Where mutually beneficial events and administration are required—such as the Life and Health Sciences Research Expo or requests for lab spaces, specialized services and equipment—the USask Health Sciences will continue to support the important research, teaching and learning taking place on campus.
