Next Generation Sequencing Facility (NGSF)

The NGSF is located within B128 and has equipment available to assist with basic and clinical genetic research in the health sciences. Equipment is available for quantitative real-time PCR, regular PCR, agarose electrophoresis, quantification, and incubation of samples and next-generation sequencing library preparation. Users supply their own consumables and some (yet to be determined) user fees will apply.

Centrifuges

Located in B128, the XPN 100 Ultracentrifuge is available for use with the rotors listed below. Maximum speeds and information for each rotor are listed with the rotor information.

The SW 41 Ti Swinging Bucket Rotor has a maximum speed of 41,000 RPM and holds six 13.2 mL capacity tubes.

Specific tubes must be used with this rotor. Access the rotor information sheet (including tube specifications)

The Type 45 Ti Rotor has a maximum speed of 45,000 RPM and holds six 94 mL capacity tubes.

Specific tubes must be used with this rotor. Access the rotor information sheet (including tube specifications).

The Type 70 Ti Rotor has a maximum speed of 70,000 RPM and holds eight 39 mL capacity tubes.

Specific tubes must be used with this rotor. Access the rotor information sheet (including tube specifications).

The Type 100 Ti Rotor has a maximum speed of 100,000 RPM and holds eight 6.8 mL capacity tubes.

Digital Imaging Systems

Biorad Chemidoc System

The ChemiDoc Imaging System is a full-feature instrument for imaging and analyzing gels and western blots. It is designed to address multiplex fluorescent western blotting, chemiluminescence detection, general gel documentation applications, and stain-free technology imaging needs.

This instrument is located in B128.

LICOR Imaging System

The LICOR imager is available for digital imaging of gels and western blots.

This instrument is now located in B128.

Laboratory Equipment

Nanodrop

Quantify and qualify DNA, RNA, and protein samples with only 1-2µL and have full-spectral data in seconds with the Thermo Scientific™ NanoDrop™ One microvolume UV-Vis spectrophotometer.

Biorad Transblot Turbo

The Trans-Blot Turbo system is a rapid protein transfer apparatus that can transfer protein to membrane in as little as 3 minutes.
